The product and packaging
On the one hand, it depends on the natural pigmentation that each shrimp has in the concrete, but on the other, it depends on external factors.
Actually, the color change of the shrimp is something that we consider normal and that in many cases also responds to circadian rhythms (that is, it depends somewhat on the day and night cycles). They usually show more coloration at night. The details that cause the color changes are not known for sure, although it is true that at an empirical level we can inform you that it is not due to the diet as one might think (specifically to Beta-carotene) but rather a defense or mimicry mechanism depending on the environmental conditions: the more stable the system is (same location, stable hours, etc...) the shrimps tend to have more coloration. However, this rule is not exact, which is why shrimp have different colors within the same ecosystem and under the same conditions. We can also inform you that a redder coloration is not necessarily a sign of better health, but that they are different aspects.
Shrimp reproduction in such small closed ecosystems is quite difficult. This has rarely been the case and the hatchlings have not lasted long, since they are used as food by the rest of the colony. However, we are aware of a few cases in Spain, and whose clients have provided us with some photos that can be viewed by clicking here.
If you fall into one of these cases, inform you that you are very lucky and we appreciate if you send us more photos to share with other users.
When the life cycle of the shrimp comes to an end, the bacteria will be in charge of transforming the remains into nutrients for the algae, in such a way that in a few days, they will completely disappear from the ecosphere.
The choice of this variety of shrimp is due to a series of intrinsic characteristics that make its habitability viable in the ecosystem, in the same way that other species and life forms have had to be ruled out for the same purpose (the result of an investigation rigorous and detailed).
It is important to mention that this variety of shrimp lives in holes and cavities that exist in the lava rocks existing on certain coasts and coastlines of volcanic origin, as a result of which they have developed a series of adaptations to specific conditions, such as the adaptation to remain long periods of time in compartments in many cases smaller than the Ecospheres, with a greater tolerance to the consequent changes in temperature that take place in areas of change of current and tides. On the contrary, they have specialized in a certain type of nutrients and certain specific mineral contributions and are also very sensitive to many contaminants.
For this reason, it is possible to adapt to the ambient temperature of homes with their respective moderate changes, as well as the size of the Ecosphere and the rest of the conditions are optimal for shrimp.
In this way, it can be affirmed that the shrimps that inhabit an Ecosphere that is maintained in optimal conditions have healthier living conditions than those they would find in the wild, due to the fact that in natural conditions they are subjected to excessive predation (they occupy a key site in the trophic chain of many species), to stress conditions and sudden changes due to pollutants and tides, to bacterial infections and parasitosis... Therefore, the life expectancy of shrimp is longer within an Ecosphere maintained in optimal conditions than it would be under natural conditions.
We would appreciate it if you could provide us with more information about the research you are carrying out: type of institution where the study is to be carried out; Department of the University, objectives of your study, contact telephone number, scientific personnel responsible for leading said project, etc...
From our point of view, we would like to tell you that we find it very interesting to carry out similar investigations, which is why we will offer you the collaboration that we can, respecting the confidentiality rules that the organization obliges us to.
The indicated sizes are not exact but approximate, because each Ecosphere is manufactured individually and by hand, therefore the measurements provided may vary a few millimeters in diameter or milliliters in volume.
If you find a cubazoo in its ecosphere, tell it that you are very lucky.
In Europe it had not yet been observed in the Ecospheres, and in the US there is only a precedent for two cases in which it has been observed. It won't live very long, since after a certain amount of time it will have no more water to filter and it will die (and it doesn't endanger the system). See if you can photograph it. Most likely, it entered the polyp phase together with the algae or with a shrimp when assembling the ecosystem, but I repeat that it is very exceptional.
According to his description, indeed, they are aquatic ciliates (probably ectoparasites) of different types of fish that are in encysted phases, which have entered the system at the time of its assembly, along with the shrimp themselves. It's not very exceptional and it doesn't really affect the viability of the ecosystem. After days (no more than several weeks) they will disappear and the system (bacteria and the shrimp themselves) will eliminate the remains. not worrying
We inform you that it would not be possible to choose the type of shrimp that lives inside the Ecosphere.
We cannot offer guarantees of long-term viability of the system with other species since the research that has been done is very deep. Likewise, the requirements in terms of temperature conditions and water regeneration are very diverse depending on the different species and we are not prepared to include different species in the environment that we have defined, because the results are not good and we would not be selling products correctly.
The duration of these ecosystems is several years (2-5) on average. Of course this is something that happens because light and temperature conditions are kept at optimal and stable levels.
In the commercialized standard Ecosphere models, the ideal conditions are not developed to develop the reproduction mechanisms in the Ecospheres, which is why the life expectancy corresponds to the life expectancy of the shrimps that inhabit the ecosphere (between 2 and 5 years, although there are cases of more than 10 years). Once the shrimp die, the ecosystem is no longer considered stable, because the forms of animal (bacteria) and plant (algae) life are constantly changing, due to changes in the chemical composition of the water. The green algae give way to populations of blue-green algae, later red algae... but these processes are not of great interest because life is not visible to the naked eye.
Regarding the possible external changes that can affect the ecosystem, tell him that, as a general rule, the larger the ecospheres, the greater their life expectancy, because they are much less vulnerable to external temperature changes (they better withstand external changes than in the ISS or ISP models, although the latter also last several years. The replacement guarantee period is 12 months.
The magnet is supposed to be attached to the glass itself. In case you did not find it inside the box, you can use any other magnet without problems (for example from a hardware store). The other magnet is on the inside attached to the outside.
Additionally and for safety, in cold times we introduce a special heater (Warmer) inside the box during transport. Once you receive your Ecosphere at your home, you can get rid of it, since it will no longer have any use.
The Ecospheres can be packaged in four ways:
- Individually in corporate white boxes, prepared with anti-shock protection systems and thermal insulation.
- Large boxes of eg. 30 units (depending on the model), useful when they are sent to a single destination and individualization is not required. The cost is lower.
- Customized boxes provided by the client himself
- Custom boxes on request
All our Ecospheres are handled by qualified personnel and packed in special shock-proof and temperature-insulating boxes.
Additionally and for safety, in cold times we introduce a special heater (Warmer) inside the box.
To the prices of the Ecospheres, the costs of product customization should be added, and these could be:
- Product customization: logo or inscription through laser or ink printing, etc... depending on the specific graphic and whether it is on the Ecosphere glass or on a pedestal.
- Pedestal (or base) if they want it and depending on the type of pedestal.
- Custom boxes (price to study)
- Other proposals, thus offering a complete solution tailored to the needs
